Insta hottie and Twitch streamer Strawberry Tabby has notably collabed with standout internet creator IShowSpeed, which increased her exposure. She has carved out a niche for herself on Twitch with her cosplay, gaming and ASMR content. Tabby then went on to push boundaries by experimenting with ‘meta content’. This went beyond the kind of content which Twitch allows and it had gained her visibility. The Twitch moderators saw things differently, and Strawberry Tabby’s account started to get banned.

Tabby had her account banned repeatedly because she violated the community guidelines on nudity and attire. According to Yahoo entertainment, Tabby was banned for “showing too much skin” on the stream and “extremely suggestive and explicit content,” and that she had been banned eight times before that. Twitch rolled back their policy of ‘artistic nudity’ two days after the policy went live, after being hit with a barrage of “shocking images” under the ‘artistic nudity’ policy. That is when Twitch streamers found creative ways to bypass the ban on nudity. Her viral collaboration with IShowSpeed in December 11, 2023, when Tabby was taking part in the “Topless Meta,” had really pushed boundaries.

YouTube star IShowSpeed, or Darren Jason Watkins Jr., is known for his variety, in-real-life (IRL) streams around the world. He is one of YouTube’s most famous personalities, surpassing twenty two million subs on December 10, 2023. Speed is known for pushing the envelope with his streams. The livestream of IShowSpeed and Strawberry Tabby’s went viral when he wanted to show her a ‘magic trick’ and he started to participate in the ‘turbulence’ trend. Turbulence consists of ‘jerky movements to create sound’. The rapid, jerky movements are combined with suggestive sounds.

It comes off as being ‘micro-viral,’ used by streamers for a gag, and for the shock value which it generates.  A ‘bait and react,’ where the streamer then watches how their guest and the viewers react. When speed performs ‘turbulence’ it makes Tabby feel embarrassed and unsure how to react, thus making the whole skit awkward. That was what made it go viral. The clip of that stream was shared widely on social media. Tabby was surprised when IShowSpeed started to do turbulence on the live stream and asked “what’s that noise? What’s that noise”? To which IShowSpeed responded “It’s my c$ck”.

After an awkward pause Strawberry Tabby asked ‘Like the chicken?’ Many fans on X were shocked by his jest commenting “he’s doing it on purpose at this point”. In the live stream, IShowSpeed joins Tabby, who is in the “Topless Meta” zone as she cropped the camera angle to appear like she is topless. Speed also had no shirt on. He starts off by asking how tall Strawberry Tabby was, and she replies five feet five inches. IShowSpeed says that  he is six foot one and Tabby said that she didn’t believe him and proceeded to google him. He is five feet eight, but Speed said that was from when he will still sixteen years old.

IShowSpeed asks her if Strawberry Tabby is Mexican and she replies that she is Puerto Rican and Ukrainian, to which he replies “that’s a weird combination”. They then proceed to play rock paper scissors in order to dare Speed to stand up, as it looks like he is not wearing anything. He accuses her of cheating because her actions are delayed, but Tabby ends up winning and Speed stands up to reveal the waist band of his shorts. Then after an awkward silence, the vibe goes from chill to weird.

The line between humor and awkwardness was thin.

She asks him what he is doing and he stands up and puts his hands behind his head and asks ‘are you ready?’ as he makes clapping sounds and Tabby visibly uncomfortable asks ‘what’s that noise’? To which he famously replied was his c#$k and Tabby after a long, visually uncomfortable pause says “like the chicken,” to which Speed replies in the affirmative. Speed goes on to say how he was ‘growing a farm’ and how he just wanted to show her how ‘they’ or his chickens, ‘produce egg cells’. He goes on to says how all the farmers are having problems with their ‘chickens to being able to produce well’ because ‘hulks were spreading diseases’. So he wanted to show her how his “ck ck c$ck or chickens sound”. Strawberry Tabby then asks Speed to “show me your chicken” and he said that his “chicken did not want to be seen on camera”. Tabby asked if it was a “rooster” and Speed said yes and that he was “very shy”.

IShowSpeed’s rooster “did not want to be on camera” apparently. He offered to show her his chicken off camera, but Tabby was not interested. Speed then asks Strawberry Tabby if she is from Orlando and how they should go on a date sometime and she said yes. Speed then goes on to ask Tabby what she likes, and she replies ‘Zimbabwe’.

Speed then asks Strawberry Tabby what kind of grades she got in school to which she replied that she had a 3.2 GPA. He then said that his GPA was a 4.0 and asked what she liked to do? She then replied, Disney, pools amusement parks, cruises and travel. He then asks her for a number to follow up on the date, to which they both mute their streams to exchange numbers to text. They proceeded to text each other live on stream. As they are “locked in” and continue their banter back and forth until Strawberry Tabby admits that Speed is making her uncomfortable.

He responded by getting up and close to the camera and simulates lowering the waistband of his underwear, making Tabby feel even more awkward. She tries to appear professional by saying that she has the same brand of underwear. Speed then simulates taking off his boxers making Tabby really uncomfortable and then yells “sike”. He is all like “what bro” and that he “Is just trolling” and that he wouldn’t do what everyone was thinking that he would. In conclusion, Speed asked Tabby when was their date going to be, and Tabby said the next day. They then shake on it and Speed tells her not to “flake” out on the date. He signs off with ‘did you see my rizz?’ and asks “chat” or what appears to be ChatGPT if he “should actually go on a date with her”?

This stream had generated as much backlash as it did for going viral. The viral “turbulence” incident demonstrated how Twitch reacts to off the cuff moments and spontaneity in general. On one hand, the engagement from this kind of spontaneity is rewarded by Twitch while raising the issue of consent, reputation of the streamers involved and accountability in general.
